February 11, 2008  No Race Day registration!

Trail runs:  20Km (12.5 miles)

                 37Km (23 miles) 

                 50Km (31 miles)

Soda / sports drinks / water / light snacks / (cracker, cookies, pretzels, fruit, etc.) available on course at aid stations every 4 or so miles.

 

"DRY ROCK" RUN (Dry Run of Course)  Saturday - January 12th 8:10 A.M. (Snow date January 13th

Pay $4 park entrance fee - Self serve water and drinks on course

Maps to all runners - Picnic afterwards

 

DIRECTION TO PARK AND CACTUS PASS START:  (see map at top of page)

From I-10 and Transmountain Road (Loop 375) exit in west El Paso, go uphill (East towards mountains) 3.5 miles to Park Entrance.

Enter Tom Mays / Franklin Mountains State Park (park entry fee waived the day of the race – please show attendant your race number).

Proceed 2 miles to the EXTREME NORTH end of paved park road.Both the Start and Finish are here on the End Loop, near double restroom and safety marker post #44.

 

COURSE DESCRIPTION:

--All 3 runs begin first 20Km Loop 1 together - down road > climb on trail up over Mundy's Gap (6000') > plunge downhill to Tin Mines (aid, turnaround) > back up and over Pass and follow Park trails back to start / finish.

--Loop 2 similar to Loop 1, Loop 3 = short out and back.

You will pass your vehicle and start / finish at approximately 1 mile / 12 miles and 23 miles.

Aid stations are every 4 or so miles.

LONG FORM - In consideration for participating in this run, I hereby, for myself, my heirs, executor and administrators waive and release any and all rights or claims for damage which I have against the organizers of the Franklin Mountains Cactus Pass Race, or the branches of the government administering the lands, or the land owners upon whose property these runs are held.  I verify that I have read the warnings about the potential dangers inherent in these runs and fully accept them.  I attest and verify that I am physically fit and have sufficiently trained to be able to compete in this run.

 

SHORT FORM - I fully understand that engaging in this run is dangerous and could result in serious injury or death.  I'm going to do it anyway.
